Learning Something New Part 2

In an effort to becoming a all around marketer and better blogger. I decide to learn some new skills to propel my journey further than ever before. Coursera learning platform has given me hope to know that I too can gain the quality skills to become better at what I do, and that is telling a story that needs to be told through marketing.

In my previous blog post I mentioned I wanted to learn something new and what better skill to learn in my line of work than marketing. I have to admit, marketing is like my nemeses. I could not grasp the process and my old ways of thinking was not working. That is why I decided to update my skills and learn new methods of making things happen the right way.

What others find easy, I found so difficult to understand let alone do. However, now, I see there is a process and once you start learning the process it provides clarity on how to proceed, how to market, the who, what, when, why, and how. In my last blog post I posted a picture of my first certificate and today I am happy to post the completion of my second course of 7 of the Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce Professional Certificate.

I know I have a long road to fully acquiring a world renown marketing skills. But you don’t become great over night. You have to first learn the basics and foundation from which to build upon.

I Decided To Learn Something New

Yes! I wanted to learn some new skills that I can put into action with what I am already doing. I decided I wanted to become better at blogging, better at marketing and better at writing. So, since I have an online store at https://pewear.com/ selling hoodies I create. I thought it would be great to learn digital marketing.

There are more businesses entering into the online space than ever before. Marketing in my opinion is an invaluable skill to have. More importantly, it can really help me understand how to reach a broader audience and learn about different markets. Another benefit associated with learning digital marketing will be to help others along the way as well.

I will keep you updated on my journey with learning digital marketing as it progresses. I just finish the first of seven courses and look forward to finishing the entire program. But for now I will take the win for starting and finishing the first course, learning the foundation.

I was always an avid reader and love learning new things. However, sometimes I will read and not apply it in real life scenarios, depending on what it is. Lately though, I have a knack for learning and applying the newly gained knowledge immediately. This I have learn is fare more exciting then just reading about something. I am on my way to becoming a better marketer. This is a new testament to my blog name motivated to be fit, mind, body, and spirit.

The Power of Vision

Where will you be in the future?

I once read; “The greatest gift ever given to mankind is not the gift of sight but the gift of vision.” The ability to see and believe what others cannot.

The bible says; “now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1.

Have you ever seen an artist start to paint or draw? In the beginning you can’t tell where there going with their design. However, you are amazed at the end result once they have finished. It’s funny because you had no clue what they were drawing or how it was going to turn out until the middle or the finished product. The artist envisioned their end result and have already seen what they wanted you to see once they have finished.

The importance of asking yourself questions that invoke thought

That is the same with our life. Where are you going? Where do you see yourself in the next five, ten, or twenty years from now? What vision for your life do you have? Think about the questions presented here. It’s nothing new you haven’t heard before. However, I want you to think about it now to see if your vision aligns with your reality.

There are scores of individuals throughout the world who cannot answer these questions with conviction or any certainty. However, on the other hand, you have thousands of people who dare to answer these questions with empty hope. Their answers are not predicated on the foundation filled with true vision, belief, dedication, backed by persistent action to achieve the very goal they set out to accomplish. Then you have a small percentage of individuals who defy all odds and what they say comes to pass and more.

Ancient writings say; “where there is no vision the people perish.” That is a powerful statement that shares relevance in everyone lives. We all should ponder, to think, even meditate daily about what we want out of life. Revisit our goals and aspirations weekly to make sure our actions align with our vision.

How far can vision take you?

Vision allows you to see with your heart and mind what you cannot see with your eyes. True vision enables you to step through the doorway of time into the future and view what your belief, dedication, persistence, hard work, conviction will produce if you do not falter.

I am inspired to bring content that will impact one’s life in a way to make a quality change in their life, or improve it in some fashion or way. If I have helped one person I know we both have been blessed.

Jesus once said; “feed my sheep.”

I hope I have done that here today. By inspiring someone to take a look at their own life with a new vision that will effect a positive change that will not only benefit themselves, but all that come in contact with them.

What good book are you reading right now?

I find it amazing how simple it is to be wholly immersed in a good read. Don’t you? Wait, I am assuming you love to read. If you don’t, that’s ok. I am not judging here. There are times when I do get a little down and will not pick up a book but take to the television and binge watch some show. However, for the most part, I enjoy reading and writing.

Reading allows me to see the writer’s point of view on a certain perspective on a particular topic or life in general. I love the WordPress platform, and as long as they keep growing and evolving, I see myself being a part of this platform for a very long time.

Why the question in my headline? I am interested in building a mastermind group interested in changing their life through the power of learning new skills and concepts via reading an excellent instructional book. There are thousands of books from which to start. So how do you know what book to begin with? That is a great question. I guess that depends on what areas in your life you would like to make changes to first.

Who is up for a challenge?

I am willing to start right where you are at. But, I am looking for a few good people ready to take their lives to the next level. Someone who will be dedicated to their cause to make the sacrifices that come with exiting the comfort zone in their life. Are you that person?

I Failed To Be Motivated

Motivated to be fit is the name of my blog, and I have failed to live up to the title. It was not by choice but by neglect because I never realized how grieving could affect you when someone you love and trust has passed away. My sister was there to talk things over with and hash out new ideas about almost any topic.

Having no one to talk with that you can trust is lonely and dangerous. I talk with God about all my issues. However, it would be great to talk with someone you can develop trust. My sister was that outlet for me. When I was young, I had many people that I called friends. Over the years that have passed, I watched my friend’s list dwindle to no one on the list at all. I wonder, what does that say about me?

The Was An Eye Opener

Through grieving and not caring for myself, my health has suffered to the point of hospitalization. Recently I was hospitalized for a couple of days because my sugar level was 840. I was never diagnosed with diabetes, nor does anyone in my family suffer from it.

When the doctor informed me that I am now a diabetic and would have to take insulin, my first response to him was, can I reverse this? The doctor said yes, and continued to say I would have to make some significant changes in how I lived and what I was eating. So, finally, I have a goal worth fighting to achieve.

I know the road ahead will not be an easy one to travel. Two weeks ago, I weighed in at 286lbs at the doctor’s office. Today I know I have lost some weight because my clothes fit more comfortably. In addition, I have stopped eating sweets altogether, and I no longer eat fried foods.

Wait! That is not entirely true because I eat two eggs with two turkey sausages in the morning. The rest of the day, I will have grilled chicken or baked salmon or fish. I am a work in progress and have much to be thankful for, including the family I have left.

Restarting A Stalled Engine




Losing weight has been a journey for me for the past ten years.  It’s true!  I have lost weight and regained weight only to lose it again.  When I gain weight, I am seriously under a great deal of stress in my life.  Learning what triggers the weight gain process in my life should give me an edge to change that behavior when I am stressed.   It appears to be easy; however, implementing strategies of what to do when I am stressed remains to be seen.

The Light Bulb Moment

Have you ever felt you had everything in control only to find out later you did not?  Yes!  The reckoning.  Knowing you have a problem and figuring out a way to tackle that issue productively is critical.  Drilling down to the issues at hand will be a key factor in restarting a stalled engine.  The word engine is being used here metaphorically to encompass various indicators that may have caused one who is going through a difficult time in their life.Final Expense

We Need To Write Down What We Feel

Why write? To write down how we feel is therapeutic and necessary to hone in on what may be the key reason we are feeling a certain way. Let me use myself here as an example.  Below are some of the things I am experiencing and feeling the weight of life on my shoulders.

A sense of Loss – I, like so many others, have lost many family members.  However, the loss of my sister affected me in ways I have never felt before. My wife has suffered several heart attacks within the past couple of years. Learning how to deal with this has been a process.  To make matters worse, my wife of twenty-four years is on limited time here before she goes home to heaven.  The doctors have extended her life another year, and hopefully, many more to come.  Since she has a lease on life, I want to cherish every moment with her but find it difficult because she is always in pain and has constant trouble breathing because she suffers from congested heart failure.

I am being strong for her making sure she has everything she needs to the best of my own ability.   Knowing all of this, I have turned to heavy prayer.  Becoming a prayer warrior for my wife.  God has a plan, and I know he will not give me more than I can handle.  I also know I am equipped with God’s grace to handle this.  However, I am not naive either.  I know that I am not perfect and still have shortcomings as a person.  You are probably wondering, what does all this have to do with losing weight?  I have noticed I stress eat and realize I am still mourning, and I am afraid of losing my wife.

Keeping my emotions in check to function and be productive to earn a living still to care for my wife is more challenging.  There are times I don’t even want to get out of bed in the morning.  That is the weight that tries to drag me down.  When I feel like this, I still get up and say my prayers and write in my journal telling myself that I am blessed to be alive, and I look for ways I can help others as well.  I ask God to use me to be a blessing to others.   I write down how God has answered my prayers and know he is in control; he is at the helm of my faith and Jesus the foundation, my rock, and my salvation.  This helps me to restart the engine that has stalled.

The Process of Rebuilding

Everything is a process.  So how do I rebuild?  Take one day at a time and feed my mind with the word of God and good information that will benefit me and ultimately be a blessing to others.  I get on the treadmill and walk for fifteen minutes.  I pick up a dumbbell and perform curls.  Walk and get some fresh air.  Pick up a health journal and read the benefits of being healthy.  Read stories of those who have survived unthinkable circumstances and realize my issue is small in comparison.  When I awake in the morning, I am grateful for being able to live another day.  Being grateful is a state of my I choose because it is a choice.

I am only human and imperfect.  There are times I choose not to be upbeat, sad, motivated, or inspired.  Hence the reason for this article.  I will leave you with this; there are going to be times of dismay in our lives.  There will be times we feel we can’t go on, or what we may be dealing with is insurmountable. The storms in life are not permanent.  When the clouds dissipate, we will again be able to enjoy the sunshine. Given time, whatever storm you are experiencing in your life, this too shall pass.   What does not destroy you will only make you stronger.  You may not understand it; you may not see it through the pain.  Allow time to work its magic, and you will again feel whole, stronger, more confident.  Your storm in life will refine you into a better person.

It has been a very challenging 90 days for me. We all have our moments when it all seems to be crashing down around us. I know you have been there. In those times when it all appears, there is no end to the storms, I stand firm in hope, and the belief in knowing this too shall pass. I hold on to all goodness and do my best to keep the goodness in my heart no matter the circumstance. Why?

I once read, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” No matter the challenge, it can be surmounted. Through life’s storms, we must show patience, temperament, and perseverance. There are times in my own storms; I wonder what God is preparing me for. Then, one day it dawned on me. We go through life’s trials and tribulations by God’s grace to help others who might need a good deed, a word of encouragement, a little motivation, or be inspired by a kind act or gesture that will spark the ignition or unlock the door that will allow their god-given gifts and talents to share with the world.

Perhaps, we are to be kind to one another and merely exemplify what Christ died for. I want to encourage you to do something good today for someone else so that you can magnify the joy in your heart money cannot buy. I thank you all for being an inspiration to me. Reading your post lets me know I am in great company here. I wish you a prosperous journey to becoming the person you internally see. Blessings abound to you.


9 Small Powerful Ways To Become Healthier

Getting older and designing a workout plan that works long-term is an experiment performed through trial and error.  There is so much information online it can be daunting.  One good way to tackle this idea is to take baby steps.  Start by considering taking care of the body from the inside out.  Do not overthink that statement.  It simply means start eating healthier.

Trial and error are something we all must go through.  Why? You can receive professional guidance to a degree.  Even the professional will gather as much information about your eating habits, physical limitations, your schedule, how well you rest, etc.  They do this to narrow down to a developing program through their expert opinion should work for you.  However, they are your guide into a vast world of fitness, health, and an overall optimum living better through the created change they suggest you make.

Not all programs will work for you.  Also, you must find out what healthy foods you may enjoy eating.  While you are doing that, devise a plan to start walking one-third of a mile for your first week, gradually increasing this weekly as time permits. If you do not want to walk, you can ride a bike for a few minutes at first, increasing your time gradually.  You can also start by stretching early in the morning and before you start your day.

Things to start you on your road to becoming healthier

  1. Make healthier food choices.
  2. Start walking for a few minutes a day.
  3. Incorporate Stretching daily.
  4. Ride a bike for a few minutes a day.
  5. Start reading blogs, journals, magazines on healthier living through nutrition.
  6. Join a gym.
  7. This is BIG, create and set a goal to become healthy.
  8. Start a health journal.
  9. Join a healthy group for a little motivation.

These ideas are just that, ideas if you lack the conviction to put them into action.  The journey to a thousand miles begins with the first step.  No successful person ever became successful without starting.  You must start and put a game plan into play and take massive action to obtain the results you desire to become healthier.

This is about you. No one else!  Develop a laser focus to become healthier with dedicated, consistent action behind it, and you will not fail.  You were created to live life more abundantly than you are now.  Seize the moment!  It is never too late to start.

The Disconnected Message

Design your own destiny through deliberate action.

Too often, we may believe there is a road we are supposed to travel in life, to find later we were wrong.  Has that ever happened to you?  You knew in your heart that you were supposed to do something or even felt compelled to do something.  All to find later, it was the wrong move, it was the wrong choice.   What in the world happened?  I believe there is a message planted in each one of us.  Some may call it a calling, destiny, in any event, somehow we may have ignored it or believed at the time it was not right because it appeared to be impossible.

The Planted Seed

The seed that was planted and left in us to germinate somehow was disconnected from our belief system.  The noise of disbelief snuffed out the message that God wanted us to hear.  Therefore, we were left up to our own devices to press forward in the belief that the path we were on was correct.  How far from the truth could we be? Sometimes we may want a thing so badly that we believe it is the right path or right thing to do.   Have you ever heard someone say – “I can’t get a break?”  It is like everything they do is not working for them whatsoever.

Understanding The Right Move

How can we turn it around?  How can we have that life-transforming moment that affirms we are on the right path.  The path that we were originally intended to be on ordained by God? I believe if what you are doing is not working, change your plan of approach.  Have you ever tried on a pair of gloves before?  If so, you may have tried on several pairs before you found the pair of gloves that fit just right.  How did you know?  They felt good, it felt right, and as you moved your fingers while inside the glove, it complemented your movements.  You have to try several approaches until it starts to work or until it feels right.  When you decide apprehensively because it may not feel right, you choose to go against your gut feeling.  That may be a sign it will not work.

Whenever I go against the grain, so to speak, about anything I have tried, it never works.  However, if you never try and decide to stay on the sideline, you have just failed.   What comes naturally to you is a good hint it may be that something you should explore?  Do you find it easy to talk with others?  Do you find it easy to understand technical journals where others don’t have a clue?  Does it come naturally to figure out how things work?  You have to investigate yourself to find what comes naturally and test ideas to connect the source of inspiration to make things happen in your favor.

If you don’t have anything that comes naturally, that is ok too.   All that means is you have to investigate and try different things out until you find something that clicks for you.  One way to do this is to pick up different magazines or surf the web for new activities you have never tried before.

The number one idea to help you find the seed you were born with is reading a great deal.   It may not sound like fun, but anything worthwhile having requires work.  Just think of all the benefits that come with searching through reading.

The Benefits Of Reading

  1. You will build your vocabulary and comprehension.
  2. Your conversations with other people will be more engaging.
  3. By reading, you will acquire new ideas and inspiration.
  4. Reading is a great way to relax before going asleep.
  5.  When reading books, you will be to explore the possibilities of what could be possible for you.

As humans, we were all given a measure of attributes that render us unique.  For some people, it is apparent, and for others, it is a mystery to be explored and solved.  Do you want to find out what is at the core of your self-being?  Connect with yourself on a deeper level and find what it is you stand for.  Question your values, desires, point of view, and your everyday thoughts.  Challenge yourself to no longer accept the status quo of your everyday life.  Instead, be inspired by the possibilities of what life has to offer and connect with that positive message.  After you find your answer, take MASSIVE ACTION!

Super Charge Your Morning With Gratitude

When you awake in the morning what is the first thing you do? Better yet, what is the first thing you say to yourself? I recently was talking with a friend who admittedly indicated he says “I will stay in bed another five minutes” and it usually ends up being a little longer than five minutes. When he finally jumps up he is usually late for work and has to rush for the rest of the morning. This usually sets the tone of the day for him and he admits he feels rushed for the most of the morning and is not as productive as he was when he first started working at his company.

My friend wakes up every morning with an alarm clock app on his phone. I suggested putting his phone on the far end of the room or bathroom. This way it would prompt him to get out of the bed in the morning instead of hitting snooze and rolling over.

I informed my friend when the alarm clock on his phone rings in the morning. Instead of running to shut it off immediately, recite these words while sitting on the edge of the bed;

Today is going to be a great day!

Thank you God for allowing me to see another day!

Today I will arrive at work early!

Thank you Lord for the opportunity to earn a living.

Today I will assist others and offer encouragement to my co-workers.

Thank you God for blessing me with being good steward of the things entrusted in me.

Today I will make someone smile.

I informed my friend he doesn’t have to say all of those sentences, just recite one a day and watch what happens. Needless to say, my friend thought it was silly to do so. However, he tried it for two weeks and BAM!!! What do you know. It worked! My friend arrives at work fifteen minutes early and brings coffee and croissants for some of his co-workers, putting a smile on their faces.

My friend told me he copied the above statement on to an index card and leaves it on his night stand. He has since added his own and tells me it works wonders. Now he is sharing the idea with his co-workers and they have adopted this process to their work environment.

How can you super-charge your morning? Why not try from a position of gratitude and watch the power of transformation work in your life. You can use this same suggestion for eating healthy, exercising, etc. The power of transformation will work just the same.
